Mt. Gozaisho
Mount Gozaisho is a mountain range located on the border of Komono Town in Mie District, Mie Prefecture; Tsuchiyama Town in Koka District, Shiga Prefecture; and Eigenji Town in Kanzaki District. There are various theories about the origin of its name, but it has long been recorded as names such as "Komono-yama" and "Gosanjodake," and is known as a representative mountain range of Mie Prefecture. With an elevation of 1,212 meters, it offers multiple hiking routes, and because the mountain foothills showcase a wide variety of Japanese plants that change with the seasons throughout the year, you can enjoy different scenery in every season through hiking. To access Mount Gozaisho, get off at Kintetsu "Yunoyama-Onsen Station," take a bus, and get off at "Yunoyama Onsen / Gozaisho Ropeway Mae," which is right nearby. If you want to try hiking with a sightseeing mood, it’s recommended to ride the ropeway and then head for the summit from partway up. The summit of Mount Gozaisho sits on the prefectural border between Mie and Shiga, and many visitors can be seen taking commemorative photos there. After working up a sweat, be sure to fully enjoy original summit-only menu items such as "Gozaisho Curry Udon" and the "Gozaisho Set Meal" at the observation restaurant on the mountain, while looking down on the spectacular views.
