Yamanokami Onsen - Yuukaen
Hanamaki Onsenkyo Yamanokami Onsen Yukaen is a hot spring ryokan located between the Hanamaki Minami Onsenkyo areas. It’s loved for its abundant hot water and a rare, lotion-like silky texture—an onsen quality that stands out even within Hanamaki Onsenkyo. The four free-flowing hot spring sources offer a wonderfully open, relaxing atmosphere. At one of the largest open-air baths in the Hanamaki Onsenkyo area, you can listen to the river and enjoy a refreshing sense of escape. The building itself is another highlight, crafted by master temple carpenters; exquisite detailing extends even into the guest rooms, creating a truly luxurious stay. Step outside and you’ll find a spacious garden planted with seasonal trees and flowers, letting you feel the changing beauty of the seasons during your trip. Access is straightforward: about 35 minutes by car from JR Tohoku Main Line "Hanamaki Station," about 45 minutes by car from Tohoku Shinkansen "Shin-Hanamaki Station," and about 20 minutes by car from Hanamaki Minami IC. A free shuttle bus to Hanamaki Minami Onsenkyo runs three times a day from both "Hanamaki Station" and "Shin-Hanamaki Station." With Miyazawa Kenji-related sights around Hanamaki City and Iwate gourmet specialties like wanko soba to enjoy, it’s an ideal base for a relaxing hot spring getaway. The ryokan also has a large parking lot for 150 cars, making it easy to drop in for a spontaneous day-use bath (no reservation required) after sightseeing by car.
