Koiwai Farm - Makibaen

Koiwai Farm Makiba-en is a popular attraction known for tours that let you experience normally closed production sites—such as nine nationally designated Important Cultural Property buildings and a century-old forest planted and nurtured by pioneers—along with activities for everyone from kids to adults and Makiba-en-only local gourmet treats. The area is broadly divided into five themes: "Interact with animals," "Enjoy nature," "Discover history," "Hands-on crafts," and "Activities," making it a sightseeing spot that can be enjoyed by all ages. Restaurants and shops within Koiwai Farm use nationally famous "Koiwai brand" eggs, milk, dairy products, and farm-raised beef, and the "Koiwai Blessings Plate" is especially popular as a menu item that brings the best of Koiwai flavors together on a single dish. For access by car, take the Tohoku Expressway to Morioka IC, then follow National Route 46 toward Akita and turn right at the "Tsunagi Jujimonji Intersection." By bus, board the "Koiwai Farm Makiba-en" bus from platform No.10 in front of JR Morioka Station and arrive in about 35 minutes. Because many attractions are closed in winter, sightseeing from early spring through autumn is recommended.
