The Osamu Tezuka Manga Museum

The Takarazuka City Tezuka Osamu Manga Museum is an anime and manga museum tracing the legacy of renowned manga artist Osamu Tezuka, famous for “Astro Boy” and “Black Jack.” Established in 1994 in the area where Tezuka is said to have lived from ages 5 to 24, the museum is themed around “love for nature” and “the preciousness of life,” messages he continued to advocate through his works. Access is about a 10-minute walk from JR Takarazuka Line / Hankyu Takarazuka Line Takarazuka Station. Enter through an entrance hall designed like the royal palace from “Princess Knight,” then enjoy displays of manga and animation in an interior that recreates the world of Tezuka’s works. In addition to the permanent exhibition, special exhibitions are held with new themes about three times a year. On the first floor, the mini theater “Atom Vision” screens original animated works on a monthly rotating basis. The “Animation Workshop,” where visitors can turn their own drawings into animation, is especially popular with children.
