Western-style inn PINNON

Pinon is a small Western-style inn located a little away from Ikaho Onsen’s stone steps, just right for small groups such as couples. It opened in 1997 as “Yofu Ryokan Pinon,” a sister property of Hotel Matsumotoro, blending the young proprietress’s experience of comfortable hotels while studying in the UK with the image of a Western restaurant her great-grandfather ran in the Taisho era. Pinon’s charm lies in its carefully curated interiors: classical antique furniture creates a Taisho-romantic atmosphere. Especially in the lobby right by the entrance, there is a fireplace designed by William Morris; in winter, a fire is lit, and the gentle warmth fills the space. Another delight is that the entire building is treated like an art gallery, with works by local artists displayed throughout. As it’s an onsen area, guests can also use the facilities of the main Hotel Matsumotoro and enjoy Ikaho’s two types of hot springs: “Golden Water” and “Silver Water.”
