Hoshokaku Hotel

Hoshokaku is a ryokan located on a hill in Shiroyama Park, overlooking the townscape that once prospered as the center of the castle town. It is conveniently located just a 3-minute walk to the Old Town area, the morning markets, and Takayama Jinya. Room types include those with views over the city and park when you open the window, as well as rooms with private open-air baths where you can enjoy the hot water and Takayama scenery whenever you like—making it suitable for couples, families, and groups. The inn offers open-air stone baths where you can enjoy Hida-Takayama Onsen, as well as a jacuzzi-style open-air “sake barrel bubble bath” and a large public bath. The open-air bath is lit up at night, creating a fantastic atmosphere different from daytime. On the top floor, there is a women-only relaxation area and a free footbath, letting you enjoy peaceful downtime. The kaiseki cuisine uses carefully selected local Hida ingredients; you can choose courses such as the Hoshokai-seki centered on ceramic-plate grilling, or a premium course focusing on top-grade Hida beef. Breakfast is Japanese-focused, offering a well-balanced meal with items like hōba miso, Hida-grown rice, and the inn’s original miso.
