Honjin Hiranoya Kachoan

Honjin Hiranoya Kachoan is a ryokan filled with the classic atmosphere and dignity of traditional Japanese inns. With a focus not only on sightseeing but also on in-room relaxation, it offers a variety of thoughtfully designed room types to choose from. Because the window-side area is a spacious veranda-like space (hiroen), you can enjoy the tasteful scenery of Hida—such as around Takayama Jinya—spreading out before you. From the large public bath and open-air bath, you can look out over Hida’s nature through the seasons. The detached old house facility, “Relax Kura,” is a women-only area where you can spend unhurried time with baths, rest spaces, and esthetics, and sink into deep relaxation. Choosing your favorite from about 700 colorful yukata and strolling around Hida-Takayama is also part of the fun. Meals can be enjoyed either in your room or at the dining venue, whichever you prefer. Using seasonal local vegetables such as Hida round daikon and natural yam, the cuisine is crafted with care in seasonings and cooking methods. Breakfast can be chosen as Japanese or Western, featuring items like iwana trout raised in Hida’s clear streams, local hōba miso, and a special miso bread made exclusively for Kachoan.
