Funabashi Andersen Park
Funabashi Andersen Park is a large comprehensive park in Funabashi City. It was selected as one of the ‘Boso no Miryoku 500 Sen,’ and in 2020 it ranked 4th in the Theme Park (East Japan) category of the Oricon Customer Satisfaction® Survey, making it a highly rated sightseeing spot. The park is divided into five zones: (1) the Nature Experience Zone, focused on waterside areas and woodland walks themed on satoyama nature; (2) the Wanpaku Kingdom Zone, featuring playground equipment, animal interaction, athletics, and Niji no Ike (Rainbow Pond); (3) the Children’s Art Museum Zone, centered on hands-on programs; (4) the Fairy Tale Hill Zone, featuring Danish scenery, flowers, and a storybook world; and (5) the Flower Castle Zone, with play equipment for small children and an indoor playroom. With a huge site roughly the size of six Tokyo Domes, even adults may find it challenging to see everything in one day. For families with kids, the athletics area and Rainbow Pond in the Wanpaku Kingdom Zone are especially recommended. The athletics includes plenty of all-day fun facilities such as a 50-meter-long slide and large ball playground equipment. At Rainbow Pond, water play is allowed; play equipment is installed in the pond, and floats are also sold at a nearby shop. For adults, a highlight is the windmill and seasonal flowerbeds in the Fairy Tale Hill Zone. The windmill was built by Danish craftsmen, and it’s surrounded by seasonal flowers that change whenever you visit, creating a photogenic spot. Access is via bus: from Shin-Keisei Line / Toyo Rapid Railway Kita-Narashino Station, take a bus bound for Komuro Station for 18 minutes, get off at Andersen Park stop, then walk 1 minute.
