野外民族博物館 リトルワールド
Little World Museum of Man is an amusement park and open-air ethnological museum located about 20 minutes by bus from Inuyama Station on the Meitetsu Line. Since opening in 1983, it has showcased houses from around the world and the lifestyles of the people who live in them, displaying 23 countries’ buildings and more than 6,000 items across a vast 1.23 million m² site. Across eight zones set along a 2.5 km loop path, traditional houses from regions such as Ishigaki Island in Japan, the Ainu, Gassan in Yamagata, Korea, Taiwan, North America, Germany, France, Italy, Nepal, and Indonesia have been relocated and restored, with easy-to-understand introductions to each culture’s unique way of life. Inside the park, a guided loop bus also runs around the exhibition houses, allowing visitors who find long walks difficult to fully enjoy the cultures of many countries. With activities like a stamp rally where collecting 13 stamps earns a prize, hands-on workshops such as Chinese paper cutting, French bread ornament crafting, and Native American paper cutting, plus restaurants serving gourmet foods from around the world, it’s a destination that both adults and children can enjoy together.
