Mishima Skywalk

Mishima Skywalk is Japan’s longest pedestrian suspension bridge, stretching 400 meters, located in Mishima City, Shizuoka—between Izu and Hakone. From the bridge, you can enjoy panoramic views of Suruga Bay, the Izu Peninsula, and on clear days Mt. Fuji and even Shizuoka City. It’s about a 20-minute drive from central Mishima and sits on high ground along National Route 1. The walkway is designed with a 1.6-meter width so wheelchairs can pass each other, and it uses an open grating structure that lets wind pass through to reduce swaying—meaning you can look down through the floor for an extra thrill. Beyond the bridge, there are many activities: a full-scale athletic course, a 560-meter round-trip zipline, and tours using segways or buggies. Participation conditions vary by activity (age, height, etc.), so be sure to check before you go. There are also facilities for interacting with small animals, plus restaurants, cafes, and souvenir shops so you can spend time comfortably. Access: about 25 minutes by bus from JR Mishima Station (get off at “Mishima Skywalk”), or about 15 minutes by car from Shin-Tomei Nagaizumi-Numazu IC or Tomei Numazu IC.
