Akame 48 Waterfalls
Akame 48 Waterfalls is a gorge along the Takigawa River running through Akame-cho, Nabari City, Mie Prefecture, and is one of the many "Shijuhattaki" (48 waterfalls) found across Japan. A major appeal is its convenient access: get off at Kintetsu "Akameguchi Station," take a Mie Kotsu route bus for about 10 minutes, then walk about 5 minutes from the "Akame Taki" bus stop to reach the destination. The picture-perfect, mystical waterfalls transform with the seasons—cherry blossoms, fresh greenery, and autumn leaves—so captivating that many people return again and again. Because Akame 48 Waterfalls is said to have once been a training ground for ninja, ninja training experiences are also offered. You can put on a rented ninja costume and try more than a dozen attractions, making it a recommended spot for travelers seeking an extraordinary, out-of-the-ordinary experience. A classic way to enjoy lunch here is to buy a bento at "Akame Kanko House" and then go waterfall-hopping. With many bento varieties featuring local blessings of nature such as "Iga rice" and locally grown vegetables, you may find it hard to decide which one to choose.
