Road Station Iga
Michi-no-Eki Iga is a roadside station on the Meihan National Highway. It is originally the Iga Service Area on the Meihan route, but the facilities on the Tenri-bound side are registered as an official roadside station. Because it sits directly along the Meihan National Highway, visiting by car is the easiest option. A distinctive highlight is its exterior design, which is modeled after the octagonal "Haiseiden" hall inspired by the travel-style image of Matsuo Basho. As a michi-no-eki, it has a very large parking lot, with spaces for 66 large vehicles and 75 standard cars, making it especially convenient for large vehicles or for longer rest stops and naps during road trips. There is also a proper food court, so it works well as a break stop for long-distance driving. Inside, you’ll find a well-stocked selection of Iga specialty souvenirs, and at the adjacent restaurant you can enjoy gourmet dishes made with Iga beef. There is also a dog run, making it a great place to let your dog stretch and burn off energy. Note that only the Tenri-bound side is the michi-no-eki. The opposite side is not a michi-no-eki, and it does not have facilities such as a restaurant, so be careful.
