Kourin Sushi

Kourin Sushi (香りん寿司) is a sushi restaurant in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture. It’s well reviewed on gourmet sites and is popular with both locals and tourists for filling, delicious sushi at reasonable prices; it’s also popular with international visitors, so the menu supports not only Japanese but foreign languages as well. It’s reputed to be cheaper and tastier than many of the sushi or seafood bowls found near Omicho Market. The most popular item, the “Manager’s Omakase Nigiri,” is 10 pieces for 1,100 yen (tax included)—not a conveyor-belt place, but a regular sushi shop where craftsmen prepare the sushi. Another popular menu is the “Tenkomori-don” (seafood bowl), also 1,100 yen (tax included). With many tourist spots nearby, it’s especially handy to stop by before sightseeing at Kanazawa Castle or Kenrokuen. Access: about an 18-minute walk from Hokutetsu Kanazawa Station (East Exit) on the Hokuriku Railroad Asanogawa Line.
