Gero Onsen Suimeikan
Gero Onsen Suimeikan is a hot spring resort hotel consisting of four wings, set along the Hida River. With several distinctive buildings—one emphasizing traditional elegance, one blending Japanese and Western styles, one offering the warmth of a bygone era, and a sukiya-style wing—you can choose from various room types to match your preferences. Gero Onsen, one of Japan’s three famous hot springs, is known for its smooth, skin-friendly water and is also called a “beauty bath.” Beyond the large public baths, you can enjoy different hot spring experiences: a wild open-air bath surrounded by huge rocks and greenery, and an observation bath with sweeping views of Gero’s townscape and the Hida mountains—perfect for bath-hopping. Dining focuses especially on ingredients from Gifu Prefecture, offering not only fresh mountain produce raised with care by local farmers but also high-quality, fresh seafood. You can enjoy local specialties such as Hida beef burgers and hitsumabushi, as well as tantan noodles made with Hida natto-fed pork. Breakfast is a Japanese-Western buffet with about 30 dishes, including French toast made with rich Hida milk and local eggs.
