Yoro Valley

Yoro Valley is a valley formed by the Yoro River and is designated as the Chiba Prefectural Yoro Valley Okukiyosumi Nature Park. It is also selected as one of Japan’s ‘Top 100 Geological Sites’ as the Yoro Valley / Kurotaki Unconformity. The area is well known as one of Chiba’s leading leisure and sightseeing destinations, where you can easily enjoy outdoor activities such as the Yoro Valley hot spring area, stream fishing, hiking, and barbecues. One especially popular activity is “waterfall hopping (taki-meguri),” where you walk a well-maintained trail to visit multiple waterfalls—an activity that lets you take in several of Yoro Valley’s power-spot waterfalls. The waterfall route visits Awamata Falls, Chiyo Falls, Bandai Falls, Shoryu Falls, Ozawamata Falls (the ‘phantom waterfall’), and Kanegami Falls. Up to Ozawamata Falls, you can start from the “Yoro Otaki” gate and visit them in order. Note that Kanegami Falls is off the main waterfall trail and is located near “Kenkou-mura Goryaku no Yu,” so be careful not to miss it. Access is via the Kominato Railway Yoro-Keikoku Station; transfer to the Kominato Bus bound for Awamata and get off at “Awamata no Taki,” then walk 1 minute.
