Shimizu Port
Shimizu Port is a port in central Shizuoka Prefecture facing Suruga Bay—the deepest bay in Japan. Sheltered by the Miho Peninsula, the calm and beautiful harbor is considered one of Japan’s Three Great Beautiful Harbors and is a scenic spot full of charm. Around the port, commercial facilities, museums, and open plazas gather, drawing many visitors. Water buses within Shimizu Port and cruise boats for port sightseeing also depart and arrive here. A boat trip offers unique views, such as Mt. Fuji seen beyond Miho no Matsubara and the port scenery from the sea. The red-brick Shimizu Marine Building has an observation deck where you can take in panoramic views of Shimizu Port, and it also sells unique marine goods. For dining and shopping, S-Pulse Dream Plaza is especially recommended: it features a Ferris wheel, theme-park elements, a sushi museum, and more—plus plenty of sushi restaurants and souvenir shops, making it a popular way to enjoy Shimizu. At the event plaza and lawn area, you can relax while feeling the sea breeze. Access: route buses run from JR “Shimizu” Station and Shizuoka Railway “Shin-Shimizu” Station. By car, it’s about 15 minutes from Tomei Expressway Shimizu IC, and there is a large parking area in the port district as well.
