Nagasaki National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims

The National Nagasaki Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims is a place dedicated to mourning and paying tribute to all who lost their lives due to the atomic bombing of Nagasaki on August 9, 1945 (Showa 20), and to offering prayers for peace. As of 2021, the number of atomic bomb victims who died in Nagasaki City is 185,982. Serving alongside Hiroshima as a base for collecting and sharing information, the hall preserves testimony videos and firsthand accounts from survivors, as well as information and materials related to atomic bomb medical care and other related topics. It continues to send a message of peace to the world so that such a mistake is never repeated. Access to the National Nagasaki Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims by car is via the Nagasaki Expressway: exit at “Nagasaki Tarami IC,” continue via the Nagasaki Bypass, exit at “Kawahira IC (Peace Park / Showa-machi area),” then drive about 5 minutes toward the city center. By public transportation, take the tram bound for Akasako from JR Nagasaki Station, get off at “Atomic Bomb Museum” stop, then walk about 4 minutes. The “Nagasaki Sightseeing Route Bus” operated by Nagasaki Bus is also very convenient for tourism, as it circulates major city attractions such as Glover Garden, Oura Cathedral, Oranda-zaka, Nagasaki Shinchi Chinatown, Dejima, Peace Park, and the Atomic Bomb Museum.
