Tanakaya Soba Restaurant
Soba-dokoro Tanakaya is an Izumo-soba restaurant in Izumo City, located near the Seidadamari area by Izumo Taisha. The shop has a stylish, modern design. Every morning they hand-make the soba using flour that was stone-milled the previous day. In addition to soba, they offer sweets, making it especially popular with women. There is almost always a line, and you can eat not only inside but also outside the shop. Among Izumo soba restaurants, it is particularly famous. Izumo soba is commonly enjoyed as warigo soba (served in round lacquered boxes) or kamaage soba. Warigo soba is easy to add extra portions; many people order a three-style set: onsen egg, grated yam (tororo), and daikon-oroshi with tempura bits, pouring soba sauce into each bowl. Kamaage soba is eaten without chilling the boiled noodles in water. Choose whichever style you prefer. Because there is usually a queue, be prepared to wait. Access: about a 5-minute walk from Ichibata Railway Izumo Taisha-mae Station.
