Katsurahama Aquarium
Katsurahama Aquarium is an aquarium in Kochi City, located in the famous sightseeing area Katsurahama, making it easy to visit together with attractions like the Ryoma statue. The aquarium has operated since 1931 and displays about 250 species and 7,000 specimens of aquatic life. You can also see the Pacific Ocean from inside, and the layout is designed to match the Pacific setting. It features fish caught in the Kuroshio Current, reflecting Kochi’s character. There are touch-and-interaction areas and feeding experiences for sea turtles and capybaras, making it easy to engage with marine life. Sea lion and sea lion (todor) shows are also held, making it enjoyable for both children and adults. While not directly about the animals, there is also an SNS topic that many of the young male keepers are “all handsome,” which has increased female visitors; the mascot “Otodo-chan” has also been featured on TV. Enjoying both the aquatic exhibits and the unique “extra angle” can make the visit even more fun. Access is about 30 minutes by bus from Kochi Station.
