Tosaden Kotsu-Train
Tosaden Kotsu Tram refers to the streetcar system in Kochi Prefecture operated by Tosaden Kotsu. Starting from JR Kochi Station, it runs three lines across the area: from Ino Town to Gomen-machi, and to Asahibashi-dori 5-chome. A flat fare of 200 yen within the city makes it popular. There are also one-day passes: 500 yen for unlimited rides within the city area, or 1,000 yen for unlimited rides on the entire network. For tourists, the tram may be more cost-effective than buses because it covers many sightseeing spots, and it also offers discounts at certain attractions—so it’s recommended to compare with your planned destinations. At the Tosaden Shop, which carries Kochi specialties such as agricultural and marine products and folk crafts, you can buy most of Kochi’s famous souvenirs, making it a great final stop before heading home. Kochi’s trams also let you see a “diamond crossing,” and there’s even a rare “triple cross,” where three tram lines intersect—something you can see in only a few places nationwide. To ride Tosaden Kotsu Tram, board at any city stop from JR Kochi Station.
