PIOLE Himeji is a shopping mall in Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture, directly connected to JR Sanyo Main Line Himeji Station. The name “piole” conveys the idea of “serving as a bridge between people and the station (eki), while continuing to propose impression, originality, and lifestyle.” A recommended place to stop by is the rooftop plaza: with Himeji Castle to the north and Shinkansen trains passing through Himeji Station to the south, the view opens up in both directions and you can take in a sweeping panorama of the city. The sunset sinking into the western sky is spectacular—an ideal way to spend a relaxed moment after sightseeing at Himeji Castle. The exterior wall panels of the main building, inspired by the white plaster of Himeji Castle, are fitted with indirect LED lighting; under the name “PIOLE Wall Illumination Fantasy,” rainbow-colored geometric patterns, water ripples, and dancing white herons illuminate Himeji at night. The souvenir area offers a wide selection of famous Banshu sweets, and the food court “Banshu Umaimon-dokoro” lets you enjoy a variety of local dishes unique to the Banshu region.
