Ashinomaki Onsen Ookawaso
Okawaso is a scenic hot spring ryokan located in Aizuwakamatsu City, quietly standing along the gorge overlooking the Okawa River. The inn features open-air baths generously fed by the Ashinomaki Onsen hot spring, said to have opened about 1,200 years ago, with a source temperature of 60°C. Among its highlights are the tiered open-air bath "Shikibutai Tanada," resembling terraced rice fields, and the "Sky Open-Air Bath," inspired by the Kiyomizu Stage, both offering breathtaking views and unique atmospheres for bath hopping. Relaxation facilities such as the rock salt "Pink Salt Sauna" and the women-only "Bakuhanseki Stone Sauna" are also popular. All guest rooms face the river, allowing guests to unwind while enjoying the tranquil gorge scenery. The lobby and lounge also offer stunning views, enhanced by live shamisen performances played by kimono-clad musicians. Guests can savor freshly prepared dishes made with abundant Aizu ingredients at the live kitchen, paired with carefully selected local sake chosen by a certified sake sommelier.
