Unagi Pie Factory

Unagi Pie Factory is a facility where you can observe the production process of Hamamatsu’s famous confection “Unagi Pie.” Shunkado’s Unagi Pie was born in Hamamatsu in 1961 and has long been loved as a souvenir. At the factory, you can learn about the secrets behind its deliciousness through a tour of the production lines. There are two ways to visit: a self-paced free tour and a guided “Factory Tour” with a concierge; the guided tour requires advance reservation. The facility also includes the “Unagi Pie Cafe,” where you can enjoy original sweets and light meals using Unagi Pie—tastes you can only find here. The direct shop sells classic Unagi Pie as well as the premium “Unagi Pie V.S.O.P.” (nicknamed the “midnight snack” and made with high-grade brandy) and related sister products. After the factory visit, you can also receive a factory-visit souvenir, making it enjoyable even for free. Since it’s located in an industrial park, visiting by car is convenient: about 15 minutes from Tomei Expressway Hamamatsu-Nishi IC and about a 20-minute drive from JR Takatsuka Station. Public transit access is also possible via bus from Hamamatsu Station.
