Konya

Izumo Kamigami Enmusubi no Yado Konya is a hot-spring ryokan in Tamatsukuri Onsen, Matsue City. It features a large public bath and open-air bath that make generous use of Tamatsukuri’s famous “beauty-skin” waters. In the alternating men/women baths, magatama-shaped ornaments made of agate help set the Izumo-mythology mood. In addition to overnight stays, it also offers day-use bathing with a private room and lunch included. Dinner highlights Konya’s specialty: a modern arrangement of “Izumo Honzen,” said to be inspired by offerings once presented before the gods. Guest rooms include open-air-bath suites as well as Japanese-style and Western-style rooms. A welcome service of matcha and Japanese sweets adds a refined touch of traditional hospitality. Strolling along the river from the ryokan, you’ll find myth-inspired statues and magatama motifs on bridges and manhole covers, plus multiple footbaths—so sightseeing stays lively. It’s conveniently located near fun spots like Koikanoibashi (the “love-fulfilled” bridge) and Tamatsukuri-yu Shrine. Access: about 10 minutes by car from JR Tamatsukuri Onsen Station or the highway-bus Tamatsukuri bus stop; free shuttle is available with advance reservation.
