Yoyokaku Ryokan
Yoyokaku is a long-established, traditional Japanese inn with over 100 years of history, preserving the atmosphere of the Meiji and Taisho eras. The carefully maintained wooden architecture is still in use, creating a deeply charming and elegant ambience. Each room is decorated with seasonal flowers, and the view of the Japanese garden from the rooms is also wonderful. Cuisine is not fixed by a monthly set menu; instead, it is served based on the day’s market purchases and your budget, using the natural flavors of freshly caught seafood from the Genkai Sea. The inn is also known as the first place in Kyushu to offer shabu-shabu, so in addition to seafood, trying the meat dishes (reservation required) is also recommended. Breakfast includes options like barley porridge, offering a gentle start for the body as well. Access: by public transportation, it is about a 20-minute walk or 7-minute taxi ride from JR Karatsu Station (JR Chikuhi Line / JR Karatsu Line). From Fukuoka Airport, it’s about 60 minutes by taxi. By car, it is about 30 minutes (about 25 km) from Maebaru IC on the Nishi-Kyushu Expressway, or about 30 minutes (about 25 km) from Taku IC on the Nagasaki Expressway.
