Naramachi
Naramachi refers to the area centered around the former precincts of Gango-ji Temple in Nara City, Nara Prefecture. Many traditional townhouses dating from the Edo period onward survived wartime damage and still line the streets. Naramachi is about a 10-minute walk from Kintetsu Nara Station and about a 15-minute walk from JR Nara Station. Visitors can enjoy leisurely strolls through the charming streets, browse stylish shops and galleries, or savor meals and sweets at local eateries. Nearby attractions include the World Heritage Site Gango-ji Temple and Goryo Shrine, said to have been founded in 800. Other highlights include the Naramachi Lattice House, Naramachi Museum, Nara City Sugioka Kazunori Calligraphy Museum, and the Imanishi-ke Shoin.
