Glover Sky Road

Glover Sky Road is Japan’s first “inclined elevator” operating as a “road,” moving diagonally up and down in the hilly city of Nagasaki. It is located right in front of the “Ishibashi” tram stop, the terminus of the Nagasaki streetcar line. The ride takes about 2 minutes to reach the second gate of Glover Garden. It is not only a means of transportation to Glover Garden, but also a scenic spot where you can enjoy views of Nagasaki’s townscape as you travel up to the Glover Garden Second Gate entrance. The night view is also especially recommended. There are boarding points from the 1st to the 5th floors, and local residents sometimes get on and off along the way, as it is an important daily transportation option for commuting and school. Access by public transportation: from JR Nagasaki Station, take Tram Line 1 bound for Shofukuji, transfer at “Shinchi Chinatown” to Line 5 bound for Ishibashi, get off at the “Ishibashi” stop, and it is just a short walk. By car, exit the Kyushu Cross-Island Expressway at “Nagasaki Mangatsuka IC,” then travel via the Nagasaki Oita Line, Nagasaki Expressway, Nagasaki Dejima Road, and National Route 324 for about 9 km, taking roughly 10 minutes.
