Yanase Takashi Memorial Hall
The Kami City Yanase Takashi Memorial Museum (Anpanman Museum) is a museum in Kami City, Kochi Prefecture dedicated to Takashi Yanase, widely known as the creator of Anpanman. It is commonly known simply as the “Anpanman Museum.” The complex consists of the Poetry & Fairy Tale Picture Book Hall, a separate annex, the memorial park, and the Anpanman Museum itself. Unlike the Anpanman Museums in places like Yokohama or Kobe, this one focuses mainly on exhibitions. However, there are also playground equipment, Anpanman statues, and attractions that both adults and children can enjoy. Adults can also appreciate that Yanase was not only an “Anpanman author” but an accomplished picture-book creator more broadly. There are also features like the Bread Factory and Baikinman Castle that kids will love. Access: from JR Tosa-Yamada Station, take a bus to “Anpanman Museum-mae,” then walk 5 minutes.
