Cape Ashizuri
Cape Ashizuri is a cape in Tosashimizu City, Kochi Prefecture, jutting out into the Pacific Ocean. From the Cape Ashizuri Observatory, you can enjoy a spectacular 270-degree panoramic view. The endless Pacific horizon reminds you that the Earth is round. Cape Ashizuri is designated as part of Ashizuri-Uwakai National Park. The Kuroshio Cliffs rise about 80 meters, and the views from the cape are outstanding. Because you can see both sunrise and sunset, not only tourists but also locals come to watch the first sunrise of the year or beautiful sunsets. There is also an “Ashizuri Cape Cruise,” a boat tour that offers an adventure-like experience exploring the many caves at the foot of the cape. At the Hakusan Domei viewpoint area, there is a Manjiro Footbath where you can soak your feet while enjoying the scenery. Nearby are many attractions that can fill an entire day, such as Kashiwajima (famous for its incredibly clear “floating” sea), Tatsukushi Marine Park, Ashizuri Marine Aquarium SATOUMI, Tatsukushi Coast, and Minokoshi Coast. Access to Cape Ashizuri is about 90 minutes by bus from Nakamura Station.
