Euglena Mall
Euglena Mall is Japan’s southernmost covered arcade shopping street, located on Ishigaki Island, Okinawa. Its former name was Ayapani Mall. In central Ishigaki City, it includes Chuo-dori and Ginza-dori, with a total length of about 265 m. Because it is covered, you can enjoy it regardless of weather. Between Chuo-dori and Ginza-dori is the Ishigaki City Public Market: the first floor is a market, and the second floor is a specialty products sales center. The name “Euglena” comes from the microalgae (midori-mushi) used in health foods; because Euglena has facilities on Ishigaki, the mall took this name after acquiring naming rights. It’s a charming arcade where you can take your time choosing Okinawa-style ceramics, crafts, goods, and souvenirs. You can also enjoy fruit-loaded ice desserts and try traditional bingata dyeing experiences, making it one of Ishigaki’s popular sightseeing spots. Access: about a 3-minute walk from Ishigaki Port Remote Island Terminal. To reach Ishigaki Island, you typically fly from Okinawa (Naha) Airport.
