Kondoi beach

Kondoi Beach (Kondoi-hama / Kondoi Beach) is a beach on Taketomi Island in Okinawa Prefecture. It’s a beautiful shallow shoreline where white sand and clear water spread out as far as you can see. From Taketomi Island—one of the Yaeyama Islands—you can see Iriomote Island, Kohama Island, and Kuroshima Island. To reach Taketomi Island, you take a ferry from Ishigaki Island; compared to more famous beaches, it’s considered a bit of a hidden gem. The beach is so beautiful it’s been used in TV commercials, and it’s often described as a place you should see at least once in your life. Located on the west side of Taketomi, it’s also famous as a sunset spot. Because the sand is soft and the water is shallow, it’s safe for small children to enjoy swimming. Depending on your schedule, it may require a more relaxed Okinawa plan—such as staying one night in Ishigaki and another on Taketomi—so it’s best enjoyed with time to spare. Access: from Taketomi Port, take the Taketomi Island Kotsu loop bus, get off at the Kondoi Beach stop, then it’s immediately nearby.
