Nagasaki Prefecture Museum

The Nagasaki Prefectural Art Museum opened in 2005 and is built around the concept of a “breathing museum.” The idea is that, like a living creature, the museum takes in various stimuli from outside, absorbs them, and then continues to grow by releasing new things back outward. Because it is adjacent to “Nagasaki Mizube-no-Mori Park,” it is recommended to visit the two together. Access: about a 15-minute walk from JR Nagasaki Station and about a 10-minute walk from the Nagasaki Port Terminal. By car, it is about 5 minutes from the Nagasaki Expressway “Nagasaki IC” via the Nagasaki Dejima Road. By public transportation, take the tram from JR Nagasaki Station (Nagasaki Station-mae stop) on Line 1 bound for Shofukuji, get off at “Dejima” or “Medical Center,” then walk about 2–3 minutes. The “Nagasaki Sightseeing Route Bus” operated by Nagasaki Bus is also convenient for touring major attractions such as Glover Garden, Oura Cathedral, Oranda-zaka, Nagasaki Shinchi Chinatown, Dejima, Peace Park, and the Atomic Bomb Museum.
