Matsushima Ichinobo

Matsushima Ichinobo is a hot spring inn overlooking Matsushima, one of Japan’s Three Scenic Views. Its pride is a 7,000-tsubo (approx.) waterside garden that harmonizes with Matsushima Bay, featuring a large pond, pine groves, and seasonal flowers. In the lobby lounge with panoramic views of the garden and sea, many guests gather at sunrise to savor the once-in-a-lifetime scenery. The inn is all-inclusive: dining, activities, and event costs are included in the room rate, and the lounge offers seasonal drinks and sweets freely. The top-floor open-air bath and large bath also provide superb views—bathing while looking over the islands of Matsushima Bay is bliss. A co-ed spa on the first floor offers a full range of relaxation options such as bedrock baths, sauna, massages, and esthetics. Access: free shuttle buses are available without reservation—about 15 minutes from JR Senseki Line “Matsushima-Kaigan Station,” and about 5 minutes from JR Tohoku Main Line “Matsushima Station.” The bus also stops at “Matsushima Park Dai-ichi Parking Lot,” making it convenient to board after sightseeing at Zuigan-ji or cruises. The shuttle runs 4 times per day at 30-minute intervals starting from 14:40.
