Sakunami Onsen Yuzukushi Salon Ichinobo

Yudukushi Salon Ichinobo is a ryokan in Sakunami Onsen, about 40 minutes by car from central Sendai, and is said to have been a hidden bath of successive Sendai domain lords. It features an all-inclusive style where dining, activities, and more are included in the stay, letting you relax until checkout. The hot spring draws from three sources and offers eight baths, including distinctive options such as the “Hirosegawa Headwaters Open-Air Bath” with four open-air baths including a 1.3 m deep standing bath, the “Shika-nozoki” reclining bath that looks up at the sky, and a naturally springing “Shizen-buro.” After check-in or after bathing, relax in the fireplace living space “Kutsurogi Salon” with draft beer, freshly ground coffee, sweets, and more. Dinner features a live buffet by a head chef recognized as a Miyagi master craftsman. Access: about 5 minutes by free shuttle bus from JR Senzan Line “Sakunami Station” (reservation required). Nearby sightseeing includes Nikka Whisky Sendai Factory (Miyagikyo Distillery), about 10 minutes away by car.
