Sapporo Ōdōri Park
Odori Park is a special park that stretches for about 1.5 km from Odori Nishi 1-chome to Odori Nishi 12-chome in Sapporo, Hokkaido. Running parallel to the roadway, the park is landscaped with about 4,700 trees and extensive green spaces planted with flowers. It is a park where you can enjoy Sapporo’s four seasons through major events such as the Lilac Festival that signals the arrival of summer in Hokkaido, the YOSAKOI Soran Festival to fully enjoy the summer season, winter illuminations, and the Sapporo Snow Festival. Odori Park marked its 100th anniversary in 2011, making it a historic park as well. Beyond its history, it is also symbolic of Sapporo as an international city. The park is divided into five zones: Flowers, Gathering, Frontier, Oasis, and Exchange. In the Exchange zone, facilities such as the TV Tower line the area. The Oasis zone features attractions like the Shepherd Boy Statue and serves as a healing space of light and water centered around fountains. The Gathering zone includes amenities such as a playground slope and concert venues, creating an active, lively atmosphere. In the Frontier zone, monuments and statues stand throughout, while the Flowers zone includes a rose garden. Access is easy: it is within walking distance from JR Sapporo Station, and it is also right by Odori Station on the Tozai Subway Line.
