Notoya Ryokan
Notoya Ryokan is a hot-spring inn about 40 minutes away by shuttle bus from JR Oishida Station. It is one of the ryokan in Ginzan Onsen, which has a 500-year history, and its beautiful appearance is designated a Registered Tangible Cultural Property of Japan. The building is a three-story wooden structure built in 1921 (Taisho 10). While maintaining its Taisho-romantic exterior, the interior floors are kept shining clean and the facilities are updated, allowing guests to stay comfortably without inconvenience. Notoya’s hot springs are also exceptional. From the panoramic open-air bath at the top of a long staircase on a hill, the view of the townscape is stunning and can be truly moving. The cave bath that has been used since the ryokan opened is atmospheric and very popular for warming up thoroughly. Meals feature fresh local ingredients, with unique menus that emphasize seasoning and heat control to bring out the best qualities of each ingredient. It is a lodging that truly deserves to be called a long-established ryokan, offering history, tradition, cuisine, hot springs, and hospitality all together.
