Hoseikan
Hoseikan is a historic ryokan in Matsue City with about 300 years of history. It consists of multiple buildings, including Yusenkaku/Kobaikaku (where Emperor Showa stayed), Chikujukaku, Kashokaku, and others. The nationally registered Tangible Cultural Property “Yusen-tei” can also be toured. While traditional in style, rooms are kept clean and dignified, many overlooking a Japanese garden for a calming stay. Cuisine is kaiseki packed with San’in flavors, allowing you to spend unhurried time. In the morning, a hearty buffet breakfast is offered. The baths include a garden-style open-air bath and large indoor baths, which show different moods morning and night. In addition, the sister inn “Ryotei Yama-no-I,” just a 1-minute walk away, allows Hoseikan guests to use its large bath for free—letting you fully enjoy the “kami no yu” (godly hot-spring) waters. Access: about 10 minutes by taxi from JR Tamatsukuri Onsen Station; free shuttle is available with advance reservation.
