Minamikan Ryokan Minami

Teien Saryo Minami is a restaurant in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture, and one of Matsue’s long-established favorites. Its signature dish is “Tai-meshi”: minced sea bream over rice, topped with finely chopped egg white, sieved egg yolk, and condiments, then finished by pouring dashi over it. Being able to enjoy high-quality food while looking out over a lakeside garden, Lake Shinji, and the restaurant’s own garden makes it popular with both locals and tourists. It also has private rooms and is considered an upscale Japanese restaurant, and it’s used for banquets as well. It has about 100 seats and parking for 18 cars. The restaurant is operated by the long-established ryokan Minami-kan (founded in 1888 / Meiji 21), loved by many over the years. Since Minami is located within Minami-kan, it’s also possible to have lunch after a late checkout. Access: get off at Ichibata Electric Railway Kita-Matsue Line “Matsue Shinjiko Onsen Station,” then walk about 15 minutes. Tai-meshi is also available for mail-order.
