Starbucks Coffee Izumo Taisha

Starbucks Coffee Izumo Taisha Store is a special “Regional Landmark Store,” designed to harmonize with each region’s symbolic character. There are said to be 25 such stores in Japan, and this one stands in front of the large torii gate at the Seidadamari area on Izumo Taisha’s main approach. Built on a theme of “a union of Japanese and Western styles,” the interior features a gabled-roof-like ceiling, vertical lattice partitions, and large tables shaped like Izumo magatama beads. From the outside, it doesn’t look like a typical Starbucks; it’s a pure Japanese-style exterior with roof tiles—rare for Starbucks. From the second floor, you can see Izumo Taisha. Because it is right beside the shrine, a recommended course is to visit Izumo Taisha first and then stop by Starbucks. Access: from JR Izumoshi Station, about 25 minutes by bus.
