Kazagashira Koen Park
Kazagashira Park is a park opened on Mt. Kazagashira (151.9 m elevation), located about 3 km east of central Nagasaki City, making it a beloved relaxation spot for local residents. It is also a seasonal flower-viewing area: cherry blossoms bloom around late March, and hydrangeas reach full bloom as the rainy season and early summer approach. The park also functions as an observation point, offering splendid views of Nagasaki City and Nagasaki Bay from its high ground. Night views are also recommended, as Nagasaki has been selected as one of the “New Three Great Night Views of the World.” A bronze statue of Sakamoto Ryoma is installed in the park, making it a must-visit spot for Ryoma fans across Japan. Access: by public transportation, take the streetcar from Nagasaki Station-mae bound for Hotaru Chaya for about 8 minutes, get off at “Shin-Daiku-machi” or “Shimin Kaikan,” then walk about 15 minutes. By bus, take the bus from JR Nagasaki Station East Exit (Route 50 via City Hall bound for Kazagashira-yama) for about 23 minutes, get off at “Kazagashira-yama,” then walk about 5 minutes. There is no parking, so visiting by public transportation is convenient.
