Inasayama
Inasayama is a park loved by local Nagasaki residents as a relaxing recreational space. With athletic play equipment and large slides, it is popular with families, and in spring it is a famous spot where as many as 80,000 azaleas bloom in abundance. A variety of events are also held here, and the spacious grounds include a refreshing fountain plaza, a large lawn area called the “Grass Ski Plaza,” and a “Monkey House / Deer Pasture” where you can observe monkeys and deer being kept. The facilities are also open and roomy, and there is a dog run as well, making it a park you will want to visit even with pets (application required). At the outdoor music hall, music events are held every summer, creating a lively atmosphere. Access to Inasayama by public transportation is from the “Nagasaki Station-mae” bus terminal: take Nagasaki Bus Route 5 bound for Inasayama and get off at the final stop “Inasayama,” which is right nearby. By car, it is about 15 minutes (around 5.5 km) from Nagasaki Station via Shin-Urakami Kaido and National Route 202. From the mid-slope parking area, a walking path leads up to the Inasayama Summit Observatory (about 800 meters, around 15 minutes on foot).
