Zenjiro Sendai Station Gyutan Dori

Tanya Zenjirou Gyutan-dori Branch is a beef tongue restaurant located on the 3rd floor of JR “Sendai Station,” in “Gyutan-dori” to the right rear of the Shinkansen Central Gate. The gyutan is hand-prepared by traditional Sendai craftsmen. It uses carefully ground “powder-milled salt” and serves only salt-grilled gyutan. The tongue used is only the center section, considered the best part for grilling. A particularly popular item is the “Manaka-tan Set,” featuring thick-cut slices of the rare and most tender center portion (manaka-tan). Some set meals let you choose the number of slices, so you can order based on how hungry you are. The classic style of gyutan here is highly rated on gourmet sites, and lines can form around lunchtime. Since it’s inside Sendai Station, it’s very convenient for a quick meal while waiting to travel or during sightseeing. Gyutan-dori also has a photo spot with a Date Masamune equestrian statue, letting you make a fun Sendai travel memory. Zenjirou has only nine locations within Miyagi Prefecture, so it’s a great place to try when visiting.
