Hitsujigaoka Observation Hill

Sapporo Hitsujigaoka Observation Hill is a hilly area in Sapporo famous for the statue of Dr. William S. Clark with his right hand raised. From the observation area, you can enjoy wide views over Sapporo city and the Ishikari Plain, along with vast open skies and scenery that feels expansive and refreshing. Each season offers a different charm: cherry blossoms in spring, lavender in summer, autumn leaves in fall, and snowy landscapes in winter. You can also see sheep grazing up close, which adds to the relaxing atmosphere and makes it easy to lose track of time. A common recommendation is to take a commemorative photo copying Dr. Clark’s pose. Near the statue, you can also write a "Pledge of Ambition" on a form; when you return to Hitsujigaoka in the future, you can reread your pledge. The site also offers Hokkaido foods such as jingisukan and "Shiroi Koibito" soft-serve ice cream, and there are workshops like potpourri making. Access is about 10 minutes by Chuo Bus from Fukuzumi Station on the Subway Toho Line.
