Roadside Station Michinoeki Nango
Michi-no-Eki Nango is a roadside station along National Route 448, overlooking the scenic Hyuganada coastline—an area within the Nichinan Kaigan Quasi-National Park. A park spreads out in front of the facility, and sightseeing boat hopping tours operate from here. Along the coast is a forest of jacaranda, a subtropical plant, creating an almost overseas resort vibe. It’s a great stop for a drive break, with well-stocked food and souvenir options. Enjoy seafood dishes and light meals at the adjacent café while gazing out at the cobalt-blue sea; the Miyazaki beef curry is especially recommended. For souvenirs, try the “Nango Roll,” a mango-filled roll cake available only here. Fresh fruit is also recommended—besides mango, citrus like dekopon are plentiful depending on season. Access: by car, about 1 hour 10 minutes from Miyazaki city area (Miyazaki Expressway “Miyazaki IC”), approx. 60 km. By public transportation, it’s most convenient to go by car from JR Nichinan Line “Nango Station”; drive about 10 minutes toward Cape Toi along Route 448.
