Nichinan Beach
Nichinan Coast is a scenic coastal area running north–south along Miyazaki Prefecture and is also popular as a driving route. The high, wide blue sky, the vast Pacific glittering with reflected sunlight, and the tropical roadside plants create a distinctly subtropical atmosphere. Along the Nichinan Coast, famous highlights such as “Aoshima,” “Horikiri Pass,” and “Udo Jingu” are scattered, making a drive-and-stop itinerary highly recommended. Access: by public transportation, JR Nichinan Line “Aoshima Station” is nearby, or it’s about a 6-minute walk (500 m) from “Kodomo-no-Kuni Station.” Buses run from the Miyakoh City Bus Center in front of JR Miyazaki Station; taking the “Aoshima / Nichinan” route via Miyazaki Airport takes about 25 minutes. By car, it’s about 10 minutes from Miyazaki Expressway “Miyazaki IC” via Route 220, and also about 10 minutes from Miyazaki Airport. The JR Kyushu sightseeing limited express “Umisachi Yamasachi” also stops at JR Aoshima Station and runs round-trip once per day on weekends, with onboard sightseeing commentary and fun sales.
