Dormy Inn Kofu
Dormy Inn Kofu (Natural Hot Spring “Kaiji no Yu”) is a reasonably priced business hotel in Kofu City, Yamanashi—known as a town associated with Takeda Shingen—featuring excellent views and separate men’s and women’s open-air baths. You can enjoy meals, hot springs, and views at a good value. The spring quality is a hypotonic, weakly alkaline, high-temperature spring (sodium chloride bicarbonate spring), said to help with sensitivity to cold, neuralgia, joint and muscle pain, bruises, and more. The public bath also includes a high-temperature sauna and cold bath; the sauna has a TV monitor, making it great for unwinding. Dormy Inn is also famous for breakfast: the current concept is “Boost immunity!” and the Kofu specialty menu is Yamanashi’s local dish “houtou,” said to have been eaten by Takeda Shingen during breaks in battle. The miso-based soup, locally sourced vegetables, and chewy wheat noodles make for an energizing meal. Like other Dormy Inn hotels, there is also an “Ajimeguri Kobachi Yokocho” selection of small dishes—easy to fill your tray with many varieties. A live kitchen prepares items like omelets and tempura. And every day from 21:00 to 23:00, they offer the free Dormy Inn specialty “Yonaki Soba,” a light soy-sauce ramen service. Access: about a 13-minute walk from JR Chuo Main Line “Kofu Station” South Exit.
