Senaga Island
Senaga Island is a small island in Tomigusuku City, Okinawa, reached by crossing about 600 m of a causeway from the main island. Because it sits very close to Okinawa Airport, you can see airplanes flying low over the Senaga Island causeway—great for plane spotting. The island is home to Senaga Island Umikaji Terrace, where rows of bright white buildings create a Mediterranean-like atmosphere. This stylish “townscape” gathers Okinawan crafts, goods, and gourmet spots. With a wide ocean view in front, it’s an easy place to enjoy an Okinawa resort mood. There is also a rare Okinawan footbath here—made with hot spring water. This hot spring is called “Kodakara no Yu” (a fertility hot spring), and you can bathe in it at the island’s hotel. The island also blends style and nature: you may spot creatures like land crabs and coconut crabs. Access: about 10 minutes by car from Naha Airport; you can also reach it on foot or by bicycle.
