Tenmonkan

Tenmonkan is the name of the downtown entertainment district in Kagoshima City, Kagoshima Prefecture. With shopping streets and nightlife areas close together, it is the busiest area in Kagoshima. Locals affectionately call it ‘Tenmachi.’ The area is made up of many streets and arcades such as Izuro-dori, Kinsei-dori, Terukuni Omotesando, Tenpark-dori, Tenmonkan Hondori, Nakamachi Core Mall, Nakamachi Belk-dori, Naya-dori, Nigiwai-dori, Haikara-dori, Piramo-ru, and Tenmonkan G3. It isn’t only about shopping and nightlife—there are also many nearby facilities such as the Kagoshima Prefectural Museum, Shiroyama Park, Nanshu Park, Terukuni Shrine, Reimeikan, and the Kagoshima City Museum of Art. It’s a must-visit for Kagoshima sightseeing, enjoyable for both locals and visitors. You can also try Kagoshima specialties like Kagoshima ramen and kurobuta pork, as well as the famous shaved ice ‘Shirokuma.’ From early morning to late at night, it stays lively in many different ways. Access: from Kagoshima-Chuo Station, take the tram and get off at Tenmonkan stop; it’s right there.
