Kagoshima City Transportation Bureau tram

Kagoshima City Transportation Bureau Tram (Shiden) is a streetcar system running through Kagoshima City. With about 10 million riders annually, it is an essential public transport service in Kagoshima. The fare is simple and affordable: 170 yen for adults and 80 yen for children regardless of distance. There is also a 1-day pass (Adult 600 yen / Child 300 yen) that covers the city tram, city buses, and the City View sightseeing bus—popular for visiting tourist spots. On weekends and holidays, the retro sightseeing tram ‘Kagoden’ also runs, with volunteer guides explaining attractions. It is a 75-minute loop ride with no intermediate stops, but it’s very popular for getting a guided overview of Kagoshima. Since it runs only two times per day, it’s worth checking schedules. With four lines, you can transfer based on the attractions you want to visit, making it convenient for sightseeing without taxis. Access: you can board right after getting off at Kagoshima Station, and you can also board at each stop along the routes.
