Tamatsukuriyu Shrine

Tamatsukuri-yu Shrine is a shrine in Matsue City and is an old shrine that appears in the Nara-period “Izumo no Kuni Fudoki.” As its name suggests, it enshrines the gods of “magatama jewels” and “hot springs,” and within the grounds are stones known as the “Wishing Stone” and “Granting Stone,” which are popular for matchmaking and wish fulfillment. Because it is very close to Tamatsukuri Onsen, visiting the onsen and shrine together has become a classic route. Tamatsukuri is historically known for magatama production, making it an especially strong power-spot area. Touching the Wishing Stone alone is said to be effective, but a common practice is to buy a Granting Stone, touch it to the Wishing Stone, and carry it as a charm; after your wish comes true, it’s recommended to return it to the shrine (mail return is also possible). The shrine is popular among young women seeking good connections, and Tamatsukuri Onsen also promotes plans that are easy for women travelers to use. With river, mountains, and sea all nearby, Tamatsukuri is comfortable and can serve as a good base for sightseeing. Access: about 7 minutes by taxi from Tamatsukuri Onsen Station.
